Easter Reflections
Activities and opportunities to see and enjoy more around you – for yourself and/or your students.

Poetry
Read and reflect on "Lent," a poem by Charlotte Mason, published in April, 1905. Be sure to read it aloud and pay attention to punctuation. Notice and reflect on the lines which you find most beautiful, most confusing, or most insightful.
Music
Enjoy this beautiful reflection by Mendelssohn on the Greek phrase, "Kyrie eleison," – "Lord, have mercy." Listen for the way Mendelssohn repeats the cry for mercy melodically through every vocal line.
- Kyrie in D Minor by Mendellsohn
Get Outside
Keep an eye out for "firsts" to record in your nature journal and/or book of firsts. Perhaps you'll mow the grass for the first time this week; maybe the oak catkins will drop; or perhaps you'll see a local pond free of ice for the first time this spring! Consider participating in a citizen science project to help others and pay closer attention yourself to the world around you.
Reading
Meditate with 19th century Scottish biologist and evangelist Henry Drummond on the story of Peter's denial.
Art
Look closely at this painting by 19th century Japanese artist Katsushika Hokusai. What do you notice? Pay attention to the colors, the shapes, and the movement of the painting.
- Kirifuri Waterfall at Kurokami Mountain in Shimotsuke by Katsushika Hokusai
Bible
Join Charlotte Mason in celebrating the Man of Sorrows who died and rose and abides with his people.
- Read & Narrate: Luke 24
